This role is for an Electrical Design Engineer at John Deere, focusing on the design and improvement of electrical harnesses and components for crawler dozers and loaders. Responsibilities include working with suppliers, leading cost/reliability/quality improvement projects, documenting design changes, performing root cause analysis, and assisting with assembly line troubleshooting. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and skills in reading schematics, using multimeters, and diagnosing electrical problems, with experience in vehicle electrical systems and 3D modeling tools being advantageous.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work with suppliers, supporting the development of new or improved electrical components.
  2. Lead projects to improve cost, reliability, and quality of harnesses and electrical components
  3. Implement & document design changes in PDM system.
  4. Perform warranty and root cause analysis.
  5. Assist the assembly line in troubleshooting electrical issues as needed.

Skills

Required

  • Ability to read electrical schematics

Nice to have

  • Experience with vehicle electrical systems
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools (such as: Pro/E, Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience with 3D Modeling tools for harness routing like ProE-ProCable or MentorGraphics, Capitol Harness.
  • Experience working with electrical suppliers.
