Northrop Grumman is seeking an Energetics Manufacturing Engineer to support their Process Engineering team in Promontory, Utah. The role involves developing and improving manufacturing processes, supporting various manufacturing operations (composites, machining, bonding, etc.), performing root cause analysis for defects, using SPC tools for process control, and troubleshooting production issues. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field with 2 years of experience is required, along with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government clearance. Preferred qualifications include experience with Lean Manufacturing, specific software (MRP, PLM, 3D modeling), and chemical/mechanical bonding processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Demonstrate and instill a strong safety culture in daily operations
  2. Develop and continuously improve manufacturing processes
  3. Support manufacturing operations, to include composites manufacturing, machining, rubber layup and molding, chemical bonding, primers and coatings, and complex assemblies
  4. Perform cause and corrective action investigations to permanently eliminate defects using root cause analysis tools
  5. Work with concurrent engineering team to create Build-to-Packages (i.e. engineering and planning documents)

Skills

Required

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering or related engineering degree with 2 years’ experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance
  • Basic Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Interpreting blueprints and specifications, GD&T standards
  • Experience writing shop planning
  • Experience with 3D modeling software
  • Strong inter-personal and Customer Service Skills
  • Statistical Process Controls (SPC)

Nice to have

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques
  • Experience working with rubbers, metals, and composite materials
  • Experience with Manufacturing Planning and MRP software
  • Experience with PLM Software (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.)
  • Experience with using 3D modeling software (Solidworks, NX, Pro-E, etc.)
  • Experience with chemical and mechanical bonding processes—rubber and composite molding processes
