The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead a high-performing team scaling Google’s foundational storage infrastructure through technical leadership, people management, and strategic execution.
- Build a psychological safe effective team. Be a coach and a mentor to your people and help engineers in their career development.
- Drive the technical strategy for large-scale GCS object inference across different data formats.
- Master GCS/AI architectures to communicate priorities effectively and provide high-level guidance to the engineering team.
- Manage 11 Software Engineers delivering user features, performance, and infrastructure.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience with storage technologies and managing a team that built and operated systems at scale.
- Experience with AI inference pipelines and AI models for different data formats (e.g., images, text, video).
- Ability to set clear technical direction, prioritize work, provide constructive feedback, and support career development.
- Ability to understand and guide work within a large, complex code base.
