Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Engineer, Packaging Design Engineering for a fixed-term role. The position involves technical expertise in packaging design, development, testing, and scale-up for new packaging components and systems within the Orthopedics division. Responsibilities include participating in process and quality improvement teams, leading packaging for NPI projects, researching packaging methods, and ensuring compliant packaging solutions. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2-4 years of related experience are required, with knowledge of packaging materials, plastic component design, and validation practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Participates in process improvement, quality improvement, cost improvement, change control or task teams.
  2. Participates and advises in decisions involving equipment, package design, and source reduction.
  3. Packaging leader for assigned NPI and LCM projects with moderate supervision.
  4. Researches and catalogs packaging methods and techniques and recommends adaptations to meet variations.
  5. Builds technical competencies in packaging materials and processes used in all manufacturing processes.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent Technical Degree
  • 2 – 4 years related experience
  • Knowledge of packaging material characteristics and validation practices
  • Experience in plastic component design, development and qualification
  • Previous Experience in the areas of Design for Manufacturing or Assembly
  • Technical writing skills required to include protocols, engineering studies, procedures, project status & special reports

Nice to have

  • Statistical Analysis knowledge preferred (Six Sigma)
  • Experience working and communicating with internal and external partners, including vendors and suppliers of direct materials and services
  • Experience in packaging, medical device or other regulated industry preferred
  • Knowledge of process DOE’s, GR&R, IQ/OQ/PQ, Fishbone, etc. is preferred
  • Experience in quality engineering activities such as FMEA, CAPA, and NC preferred
  • Knowledge of In Process Control preferred
