Engineer - Reliability Engineering & Enablement

This role is for an Engineer on the Reliability Engineering & Enablement (REL) team, which builds and operates the platform, integrations, and data capabilities behind ServiceNow at Target. The team focuses on improving reliability, enabling enterprise data access, and modernizing the platform into a scalable, event-driven, and AI-enabled ecosystem. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building backend services, integrations, and internal tools while supporting the stability and evolution of critical enterprise systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations supporting ServiceNow and internal platforms
  2. Support day-to-day system health, troubleshooting issues, and participating in incident response
  3. Contribute to improvements in observability, reliability, and system performance
  4. Implement features and enhancements following established architecture and engineering standards
  5. Work with data systems, APIs, and event-driven workflows to support platform capabilities

Skills

Required

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of software development experience
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Golang, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Experience building or contributing to APIs or backend services
  • Understanding of basic distributed systems concepts (APIs, databases, integrations)
  • Ability to debug issues using logs, metrics, or other tools
  • Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and systems
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with Golang, Node.js, or backend service development
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and integration patterns
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, event-driven systems, or data pipelines
  • Experience with observability tools (logging, metrics, monitoring)
  • Exposure to ServiceNow or enterprise platforms
  • Interest in automation, AI, or internal tooling
