This role is for a Utilities Engineer at Eli Lilly's new manufacturing site, focusing on the startup and ongoing support of plant utility systems like steam, chilled water, and compressed air. The position requires experience in regulated manufacturing environments and involves commissioning, qualification, validation, and continuous improvement of these critical systems to support pharmaceutical operations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as a primary technical resource to the Global Facility Delivery Team, with a focus on right-first-time, on-schedule facility startup.
  2. Lead commissioning, qualification, and validation (C&Q/CSV) activities for all utility systems; own and maintain the qualified state of all assets within your area of responsibility.
  3. Develop and execute unit operation shakedown and startup protocols, including Performance Qualification (PQ) protocol development.
  4. Provide front line engineering support to Utilities Operations across the following core systems: Steam & Boiler Systems, Chillers & Chilled Water Systems, Cooling Towers & Condenser Water, Compressed Air & Instrument Air, Hot Water & Domestic Water Systems, Glycol & Low-Temperature Cooling, Water Treatment & Softened Water.
  5. Integrate process simulation, energy modeling, and data analytics to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements across utility systems.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial utilities engineering role
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in two or more of the following: fire-tube/water-tube boilers, centrifugal/screw chillers, cooling tower water treatment, industrial compressed air systems, or glycol-based cooling systems.
