Engineering Analyst, Cloud AI Abuse

Google Google · Big Tech · Seattle, WA +2

This role focuses on safeguarding Google Cloud AI products from abuse, including prompt injection, jailbreaking, data poisoning, and policy-violating content generation. It involves analyzing risks of generative and agentic AI, measuring these risks through benchmarking and red teaming, and developing rules and heuristics to block abusive actors. The role requires collaboration with engineering, product, and legal teams, and educating them on Gen AI safety risks.

What you'd actually do

  1. Monitor Google Cloud AI products for signs of abuse, including prompt injection, jailbreaking, data poisoning, distillation, and generation of policy-violating content.
  2. Perform in-depth analysis of risks associated with both generative and agentic AI. Measure these risks using benchmarking, evaluations, red teaming, and scaled usage monitoring.
  3. Develop, tune, and deploy rules, heuristics, and rate limits to proactively block abusive actors and mitigate automated attacks.
  4. Effectively collaborate with engineering, product, and legal teams to ensure that the risks of AI are understood and robust solutions are adopted.
  5. Educate cross-functional teams about Gen AI safety risks and advocate for secure design principles. Promote a culture of safety and user trust throughout the product development process.
