This role focuses on architecting the approach to complex risks associated with AI, defining the strategic roadmap for model safety, anticipating future threats, and developing novel evaluation paradigms to influence product and research direction. The primary focus is on ensuring safety as a foundational component of AI systems, with a secondary involvement in fine-tuning techniques and classifier-based guardrails.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead analyses to implement next-generation safety mitigations.
  2. Partner with Engineering, Product, Policy and Legal to set precedents and create defensible principles for new AI capabilities.
  3. Analyse the evolving AI threat landscape.
  4. Become the go-to person for issues related to the area of the business and use the domain knowledge to provide partners with insights and analyses.
  5. Perform on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis, including weekend coverage/holidays.
