Engineering Architect - Dx/ax/ux

Okta Okta · Enterprise · Bangalore, India · Software Architecture-678

Engineering Architect role focused on defining and driving the architectural vision for Developer Experience (DX), User Experience (UX), and Agentic Experience (AX) across Okta's Auth0 products, SDKs, and APIs. The role involves designing agent skills, guardrails, and tooling to enable AI agents to interact with and build on Auth0, ensuring consistency for both human and AI developers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and drive the architectural vision for DX, UX, and AX across Auth0's public products, SDKs, and APIs
  2. Identify and address inconsistencies across Auth0's product surfaces, establishing patterns and standards that make the experience feel unified and intentional
  3. Architect and contribute to the SDK and API design layer, ensuring our developer-facing interfaces are ergonomic, consistent, and built for both human and agent consumers
  4. Design and build agent skills, guardrails, and contextual tooling (MCP servers, SKILL.md, llms.txt, structured documentation) that enable agents to build correctly with Auth0
  5. Embed within Engineering teams for large initiatives, providing architectural guidance and lighter-touch direction for smaller efforts

Skills

Required

  • Experience designing developer-facing products (SDKs, APIs, CLIs, documentation systems, or developer portals)
  • Strong point of view on great DX and ability to articulate/fix shortcomings
  • Familiarity with emerging AX space (agent-readable documentation, MCP servers, agent skills, API/tooling auth for AI agents)
  • Knowledge of Identity protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) in developer products
  • Experience driving consistency across multiple product surfaces
  • Hands-on coding ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to drive technical decisions
  • Excellence at creating clarity and alignment across teams without direct authority

Nice to have

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open source SDKs or libraries
  • Familiarity with structured content and documentation systems for LLM consumption (llms.txt, OpenAPI, structured changelogs)
  • Experience with frontend or full-stack development, particularly in developer tooling or product surfaces like Universal Login

What the JD emphasized

  • Experience : 15 to 20 year
  • Deep experience designing developer-facing products
  • Hands-on coding ability

Other signals

  • AI agents as consumers of APIs and SDKs
  • Architectural vision for Agentic Experience (AX)
  • Designing agent skills, guardrails, and tooling
  • Ensuring consistency for human and agent developers
