Engineering Design Program Manager - Data Center Engineering

Seeking an Engineering Design Program Manager for the Global Data Center Engineering team, focusing on enabling business growth through new data center capacities and ensuring continuous stability. The role involves site selection, contractual evaluations, design solutions, project execution, construction support, and operational support for Americas regional projects. Responsibilities also include participation in data center R&D research projects and global team collaborations.

What you'd actually do

  1. The new hire will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise for the Americas regional data center projects and will report directly to the team global director of engineering.
  2. The new hire will participate and review with the project team in data center site selection and contractual evaluations, design solutions, and support project executions through construction to final site acceptance.
  3. The new hire will participate in regional data center operations support for incident reposes, root causes analysis.
  4. The new hire will participate in data center R&D research projects, with global team collaborations.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant disciplines.
  • Knowledge of power and cooling designs, and calculations to determine capacity requirements
  • Understand Power and Cooling Redundancy and how it is implemented in design (i.e., 2N or N+1 Distributed Redundant, UTI, TIA-942, ASHRAE standards)
  • Experience with Cooling Redundancy and how Concurrent Maintainability is implemented in design (i.e, N+1 or N+2).

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer Certifications
  • 4 years or more of experience in data center engineering
  • Lead or influence Engineering Design and Architect teams to complete Data Center Conceptual>30%>60%>90% Detailed Design Process.
  • Practice Data Center Tiering Standards (i.e, TIA-942 Rated 3, or Uptime Tier 3) in a detailed design process.
  • Lead or influence a construction team to complete Data Hall fit-out experience, including IT services Coordination, Power and Cooling Planning.
  • Lead or influence a testing and commissioning team to perform L1 to L5 commissioning tests to validate the system design intent and resolve technical problems along the way.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, electrical sub-distribution systems, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to clarity and detail.
