Engineering Manager to lead an organization of 30+ people, including managers, senior engineers, and AI agents, focusing on product, platform, and applied AI. The role requires strong technical credibility, hands-on coding ability, and the ability to shape engineering culture and set technical direction. The manager will also build the operating model for a hybrid human-AI engineering team and contribute to executive-level decision-making.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead engineering. Product, platform, and applied AI under one roof. Own the roadmap and the business outcomes the org is on the hook for.
  2. Set technical direction across the org: drive the design docs and architectural decisions that span teams, push back hard on weak plans (including your own), and hold a high bar for what ships.
  3. Shape engineering culture: how we ship, how we write code, how we hire, how we deploy agents. Set norms that outlast any single project.
  4. Ship fast: at Lovable the question is always “how fast can we get this to users?” You bias toward production and pull research, prototypes, and experiments into reality on the order of days and weeks, not quarters.
  5. Build the operating model for an engineering org where humans and AI agents work side by side. We’re inventing this in public, and you’ll set the patterns the rest of the company learns from.

Skills

Required

  • 15+ years of engineering experience
  • 6+ years of people management at a pre-IPO startup, scale-up or frontier tech company
  • at least 2 years of managing managers
  • Strong IC track record before management
  • Experience running an engineering organization of 30+
  • Hands-on technical ability at the Tech Lead level
  • Experience with humans and AI agents on the same team
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity
  • Deep technical credibility in at least one area (full-stack product, platform and developer experience, or applied AI)
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Business fluency
  • Track record of building and growing teams
  • Based in Stockholm or London or ready to relocate
