Engineering Manager, AI Enablement

PitchBook PitchBook · Fintech · Seattle, WA · Technology Operations

Engineering Manager to lead the team building and operating core platforms for AI adoption, focusing on managed tool access, context management, agent creation/governance, and workflow orchestration. The role emphasizes enabling product teams, data scientists, and the workforce with scalable, safe, and usable AI foundations, acting as a force multiplier for experimentation and operationalization of AI capabilities.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own and lead the AI Enablement roadmap, including managed tool access, context management, agent creation and governance, and workflow orchestration
  2. Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Data Science, Security, and Legal to balance innovation, safety, and scale
  3. Build and operate platforms that support: safe experimentation and prototyping, replication and scaling of successful AI patterns, and delivery of prescriptive, production-grade AI solutions
  4. Ensure AI platforms provide consistent context, auditability, lineage, and observability across users, agents, and workflows
  5. Enable teams to transition from ad-hoc experiments to managed, reusable capabilities

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role, managing distributed teams
  • 6+ years of experience building and operating platforms or infrastructure that support developers or data practitioners
  • Strong experience enabling AI/ML systems in production, including GenAI and LLM-based systems
  • Experience with AI tooling, orchestration, or agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, custom agent systems, workflow engines)
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS and/or GCP), including Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience designing secure, governed access to data, tools, and services
  • Experience with Python (Java a plus) and building APIs or platform services
  • Strong systems-thinking skills: ability to design platforms that scale across teams and use cases
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both deeply technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to have

  • Experience working across multiple engineering and product teams is a plus
