Google is seeking an Engineering Manager for the BigQuery Engine team. This role involves leading a team of engineers to develop and optimize BigQuery's query engine, focusing on performance, scale, and real-time adaptation. The manager will drive design, execution, and foster team culture, while partnering with infrastructure and product teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive the design and execution of high-performance components within BigQuery’s execution engine, including query optimizers and control plane components.
  2. Improve the price-performance and scale of the engine, ensuring solutions are efficient to operate, easy to maintain, and reliable.
  3. Partner with infrastructure teams (e.g., Colossus, MindMeld) and product teams to shape the future of the analytics experience.
  4. Foster a healthy, transparent, and collaborative team culture. Be responsible for recruiting talent, mentoring executive engineers, and improving team velocity and quality.
