As the Engineering Manager for the Console UI team, you’ll lead and grow a frontend-focused engineering team responsible for shaping the user experience of a new, strategic platform initiative at 1Password. You’ll support a team building the admin and developer-facing interfaces that make complex security and infrastructure capabilities usable, intuitive, and trustworthy.
You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Identity, Security, and Backend Platform teams to translate foundational runtime systems into clear workflows for configuring machine identities, managing secure integrations, defining access controls, and auditing activity. This is not a feature team working at the edges. It is a foundational team defining how customers experience an entirely new layer of 1Password.
You’ll mentor engineers, create a strong culture of frontend excellence, and help establish technical direction for a UI surface that must scale in both complexity and impact. You’ll balance rapid iteration with long-term architectural thinking, ensuring the Console evolves into a cohesive, reliable experience as the platform grows. This role requires comfort operating in ambiguity and helping shape both product and organizational boundaries as the platform evolves.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What we're looking for:
- Experience managing and mentoring a team of front-end or full-stack developers in a product environment
- A track record of delivering impactful user-facing features with predictable execution
- Strong product and UX instincts, especially when translating complex technical systems into intuitive experiences
- Technical fluency in modern frontend architectures and the ability to engage deeply in architectural discussions
- Experience defining team direction and roadmaps in partnership with Product and Design
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, security, and platform teams
- Clear, effective communication skills across levels of the organization
- Experience leading remote or distributed teams across multiple timezones
What you can expect:
Lead, mentor, grow, and retain a high performance team of developers building the core front-end admin and developer-facing experiences for a new strategic platform initiative
Define the team’s mission and direction, translating company strategy into a clear roadmap and actionable execution plan
Deliver high-quality user-facing systems on time, driving measurable customer and business impact through clear goals, prioritization, and delivery practices
Partner closely with Product, Design, Identity, Security, and Backend teams to align roadmaps, manage dependencies, and build cohesive, intuitive workflows on top of complex systems
Establish and evolve the frontend technical strategy in collaboration with senior and staff engineers
Maintain a high bar for usability, accessibility, performance, security, and long-term maintainability
Foster a healthy, inclusive team culture rooted in accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Actively manage performance, hire thoughtfully, and support meaningful career growth for your team
USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $192,000 USD and $278,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $171,000 CAD and $248,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
