Engineering Manager for Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division, focusing on battery system design and integration into customer applications like machines, rail, and marine. What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team to develop collaborative relationships among themselves, with customers, suppliers, other cross functional groups, and internal customers to ensure goals are achieved
  2. Guide the evolution of technical design, technical project planning, detail design, and development testing
  3. Serve as design control owner for battery system and integration design. This includes leading battery rack and pack design engineers with responsibility for battery system top levels, mounting structures, cooling systems, and high voltage battery connections
  4. Own the planning, coordination, and execution of test plans for batteries systems and components within New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) Programs
  5. Maintain collaboration with corporate and E+ES compliance teams for the evaluation and certification of battery systems within the appropriate regulatory bodies (IEC, UL, Marine Certification with DNV, RINA, LR, ABS, USCG)

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods
  • Working knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies

Nice to have

  • Previous battery systems experience
  • Extensive experience and understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of processes involved in managing people
