Engineering Manager – Mechanical & Structures

Boeing India is seeking an Engineering Manager for Mechanical & Structures to lead a team in Bangalore. This techno-managerial role involves technical and people leadership, talent acquisition, team development, and providing technical oversight for mechanical systems and structures engineering. The manager will be responsible for product design, reliability, configuration, and maintenance programs for aircraft components, as well as developing and implementing project plans, forecasting resources, and fostering an innovative work environment. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including global teams and suppliers, is crucial. The role also involves supporting key design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).

What you'd actually do

  1. Manages employees performing end to end product design engineering and technical activities in the areas of Mechanical & Structures Design and being responsible for the reliability, defining/maintaining/improving the configuration, and maintenance program of their assigned to design and development of payloads, structures & propulsion aircraft components.
  2. Develop project or operational plans aligned with department's objectives. Implement plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute end to end product design & development. Reviews plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  3. Forecasts resource needs and make hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Ensure employees are working effectively with all development teams. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
  4. Partner and engage with internal and external stakeholders, supplier management team, maintain relationships/partnerships with internal customers, peers and partners to develop strategies, goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization’s strategy. The position will be pivotal in creating and maintaining relationships with the Global teams and working closely with those stakeholders in planning and forecasting activities of the team as well as reporting requirements from stakeholders.
  5. Provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.

  • leadership role experience (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
