Netflix is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Lifecycle Messaging Experiences team. This team is responsible for building and evolving experiences that help members discover new content and features across various channels (email, SMS, push, WhatsApp) to drive discovery, engagement, retention, and revenue. The role involves leading a team of engineers, partnering with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Algos, Data Science), and driving experimentation and optimization of messaging experiences at scale.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers building member-facing messaging experiences across multiple channels and surfaces.
  2. Drive end-to-end ownership of lifecycle messaging experiences from ideation and experimentation to production scale and continuous optimization.
  3. Partner deeply with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Algos and Data Science) to define strategy, prioritize opportunities, and deliver high-impact experiences.
  4. Operate in a highly experimental environment, leveraging A/B testing, personalization, and data-driven insights to continuously improve outcomes.
  5. Balance speed and quality enabling rapid iteration while maintaining high standards for user experience and engineering excellence.

Skills

Required

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams building consumer-facing products or experiences at scale.
  • Strong product and user intuition—ability to connect technical decisions to member impact.
  • Experience working in highly cross-functional environments, influencing across Product, Design, and Data Science.
  • Track record of driving experimentation and iteration (A/B testing, personalization, growth or lifecycle experiences).
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to guide teams on architecture, tradeoffs, and long-term maintainability.
  • Passion for building and developing teams, with a focus on talent density, coaching, and high performance.
