Verkada is seeking an Engineering Manager for a new Cameras Firmware Quality group. This role will be responsible for the core reliability of their camera fleet, developing processes, tools, and tests to validate product function and performance. The manager will architect Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) automation infrastructure from scratch, hire and manage a team of testers, and oversee end-to-end quality verification. Responsibilities include building the team, strategic oversight, lab management, designing and building HIL test automation, framework and SDK development, test development, test case management, manual and exploratory testing, issue resolution, field quality monitoring, and telemetry/instrumentation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build the Team: Recruit, hire, and mentor a high-performing group of automation software engineers and QA specialists to assist with manual validation.
  2. Strategic Oversight: Own the end-to-end quality verification of our camera products, acting as the final gatekeeper for firmware and system validation prior to deployment.
  3. Lab Management: Oversee the design, procurement, and management of the physical camera test lab and HIL environments.
  4. Architecture: Design and build a scalable Hardware-in-the-Loop test automation system from scratch.
  5. Framework & SDK Development: Create the core infrastructure, test primitives, and SDKs necessary for test execution and reporting.
