What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and grow the team, setting technical direction and hiring to expand.
  2. Own the developer experience of R2.
  3. Drive a roadmap that balances feature delivery with the reliability and performance work that keeps R2 trustworthy, shipping features that leverage Cloudflare's global network in ways other object stores cannot.
  4. Engage with customers in chat, joining calls with R2's largest accounts, writing blog posts, and often being the go-to person for internal teams building on R2.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience
  • Experience building or operating developer-facing data systems (object stores, databases, message queues, or similar)
  • Experience leading engineering teams, either as a manager or as a senior technical lead
  • A track record of shipping developer-facing features where API design, ergonomics, and migration experience meaningfully impacted adoption
  • Comfort engaging directly with developers through customer calls, community forums, blog posts, or open-source
  • Familiarity with distributed systems concepts

Nice to have

  • Experience with S3-compatible APIs, object storage systems, or cloud storage platforms
  • Experience building or improving data migration tools where the goal was making a complex process feel simple
  • Experience working with edge networks or CDN architecture
  • Experience growing a team through hiring while delivering on an ambitious roadmap
