A key moment on Roblox is when users play games with their friends — it's what keeps players coming back for more. As the Engineering Manager for Social Play, you will lead a team focused on deepening those connections through features that make every session better with friends. You'll drive co-play, help players discover new games, through their social graph, and shape how players find and join each other in real time. Your team owns high-scale features used by hundreds of millions of users, while also building new zero-to-one experiences. Your work will directly influence company-level goals around engagement and retention.

This role is based at Roblox HQ in San Mateo, CA (no remote option).
You Will:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team. Support engineers, ranging from junior to senior, in their development.
- Foster a team culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence; while getting things done.
- Define and execute the product and technical strategy for enabling identity and expression on the platform
- Own the team’s mission and outcomes. Work with stakeholders to define the team’s roadmap, and ensure execution.
- Partner with PM, Design, Data, and stakeholders across Roblox, to develop innovative solutions.
You Have:
- 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager or tech lead manager.
- 8+ years of experience building full-stack systems, including backend, APIs, frontend applications, and user-facing features
- Excellence in collaborating with others, and in developing software engineers. You have demonstrated outcomes of facilitating team success and leading by example.
- A proven track record of technical delivery in high-scale environments with complex constraints
- Experience solving difficult problems involving both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders

The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Annual Salary Range
$295,250—$345,040 USD
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
