Engineering Specialist - Quality

This role is for an Engineering Specialist focused on Quality within Ford's manufacturing department. The primary responsibilities include leading Quality of Service (QOS) initiatives, ensuring adherence to quality procedures, coordinating containment actions for quality concerns, managing quality documentation, participating in audits, leading cross-functional teams for quality improvement, resolving warranty and concern issues, leading Six Sigma projects, and applying engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes and products. The role requires experience in manufacturing engineering, problem-solving, and Six Sigma Green Belt certification, with a Bachelor's degree and Black Belt certification being preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Act as single point of contact for quality within assigned area for all other internal and external contacts (production teams, Product Development, STA, suppliers, MP&L, etc).
  2. Coordinate during quality concerns containment actions, dock holds, special checks to eliminate any impact to customer. Document and control error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments. Keep traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference.
  3. Manage quality documentation on FTT, 8Ds, Scrap, Dock Holds, Dock Audit, BSAQ etc.
  4. Lead cross functional team initiatives in quality to achieve internal and external quality targets (leading and lagging indicators)
  5. Lead 8D resolution of Warranty and VO concerns working together with Quality, MP&L, Machining and VO.
