This role is for an Engineering Technician who will support the design, buildout, testing, and maintenance of test rigs and platforms. Responsibilities include vehicle buildout, sensor installation, troubleshooting systems, inventory management, and procurement. The role requires automotive mechanical and electrical experience, and familiarity with schematics. Nice-to-haves include Python, ROS, Linux, AV components, and CAD.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support vehicle buildout following schematics for hardware and electrical systems
  2. Installing assembling sensors, compute, structural support equipment
  3. Troubleshoot vehicle systems, computer components, and sensors, performing root cause analysis and calibration
  4. Manage an inventory system for all components and lab supplies, maintaining organization and efficiency
  5. Manage the procurement process for key components and maintain relationships with key suppliers

Skills

Required

  • 国家2級自動車整備士 or above
  • 5+ years of technical experience in mechanical, electrical, computer, automotive, or robotics industries
  • Proven ability to assemble prototypes, electrical wiring, and cable assemblies according to engineering instructions
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics and datasheets
  • Experience documenting and maintaining detailed assembly procedures
  • Strong organization and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages
  • Understanding of ROS and Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance
  • Practical experience with AV components like LiDARs, radars, and cameras
  • Ability to design, draw, and prototype custom harness cables
  • Familiarity with CAD software (Solidworks preferred)

What the JD emphasized

  • Must have 国家2級自動車整備士 or above
  • Reviewing of vehicle modifications will be conducted in relation to the Japanese safety regulations (保安基準)
  • Practical experience as a certified vehicle inspector (自動車検査員)
