This role focuses on environmental control and thermal analysis for the Space Launch System (SLS) core stage at Boeing. Responsibilities include creating and modifying thermal math models, running analytical cases to determine component temperatures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. What you'd actually do

  1. Create or modify thermal math models to support system analysis
  2. Run analytical cases to determine environments or temperatures of various components or structures of the SLS vehicle
  3. Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Propulsion and Stress to ensure requirements are met and issues are resolved
  4. Develop skills and grow into an independent contributor role with increasing technical complexity
  5. Take on broader ownership of work including design, build, supply chain, production support, and customer support

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, CREO) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., Thermal Analysis software such Thermal Desktop)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics
  • Experience with aerospace or defense industry standards and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice to have

  • Experience or course work in thermal design and analysis
  • Experience or course work with thermal design and modeling of aerospace platforms
  • Experience or course work with thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, Sinda/Fluint, SpaceClaim or similar tools
  • Experience or course work working with space programs, NASA programs preferred
