Boeing is seeking an Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Design and Analysis Engineer to ensure the safety and reliability of the Out of Production fleet. This role involves supporting system analysis and architecture, performing safety analysis documentation (FHAs, FMEAs, FTAs), assessing complex system events, and contributing to requirements development for aircraft ECS components. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and experience in systems engineering and cross-functional teams, with preferred experience in aircraft ECS analysis, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.

What you'd actually do

  1. Requirements Traceability & Development Assurance
  2. Supports development and documentation of Environmental Control System analysis and architecture (air conditioning, air distribution, cabin pressure control, equipment cooling, cargo fire protection, nitrogen generating system, ice/rain protection, etc.)
  3. System Safety Analysis Documentation, including the creation of Fault Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis
  4. Assesses complex system events to determine potential safety issues, utilizing airplane function integration at the system and component level
  5. Contributes to development of hardware, software, and system performance requirements, as well as supplier qualification of these components and systems

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 3+ years of experience working with or on an engineering team
  • 1+ years of experience working in a multi-disciplined Systems Engineering environment
  • Experience working in a cross functional team environment
  • good verbal and written communication skills

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
  • 1+ years of experience being a team leader
  • 1+ years of experience with engineering disciplines related to aircraft Environmental Control Systems analysis, including compressible/incompressible fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, physical chemistry, systems engineering, and/or computational fluid dynamics
  • Direct experience with aircraft Environmental Control Systems analysis (air conditioning, air distribution, cabin pressure control, equipment cooling, cargo fire protection, nitrogen generating system, ice/rain protection, thermal analysis, computational fluid dynamics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Boeing design, certification, and engineering principles
  • Ability to work with multiple team functions
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience
  • Desire to continuously improve our airplanes
