This role involves managing hazardous waste, including identification, collection, transport, storage, treatment, recycling, and disposal, in compliance with state, local, and federal regulations. It also includes operating related equipment, responding to spills, and maintaining inventory of chemicals and supplies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Independently work from specifications, technical orders, permits and government regulations and written or verbal instructions to accomplish environmental activities to identify, label, collect, transport, temporarily store, prepare-for-shipment for off-site disposal, treat, recycle and repackage hazardous wastes.
  2. Maintain a working knowledge of State, local and Federal regulations regarding hazardous waste management.
  3. Collect and ensure proper segregation, labeling and documentation of hazardous waste containers and collection areas.
  4. Sort and classify hazardous waste and materials which are not readily identified.
  5. Determine proper waste disposal and processing method by checking established criteria and evaluating was designations, recognizing deviation and correcting to assure compliance.
