Northrop Grumman is seeking an Environmental Qualification Engineer (or Principal level) to interpret design guidelines, review test procedures, and perform analyses on components, subsystems, and systems according to standards like MIL-STD-810 and DO-160. The role involves supporting design reviews, allocating requirements, and potentially traveling to witness supplier tests. Requires a STEM degree, relevant experience, knowledge of thermal/vibration analysis software, and a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Interpret design guidelines, review test procedures, test reports, technical analyses, participate in cross discipline design reviews, develop models and perform analyses on components, subsystems, and systems in accordance with governmental and non-governmental standards, for example MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 and travel to supplier sites to guide/witness tests.
  2. Interpret, allocate, tailor, and flow down requirements to all design levels.
  3. Support design reviews for internal and external customers regarding EQ issues.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge in thermal and/or vibration analysis
  • Knowledge of related software such as ANSYS, Flotherm, FEMAP, etc.
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Nice to have

  • Knowledge in electronics or electro-mechanical design
  • Familiarity with Model BASED Systems Engineering and SysML tools such as Cameo
  • An active Top-Secret clearance
