The Executive Protection Operator role at OpenAI is responsible for safeguarding OpenAI's executives and key employees by providing security support during travel, events, and daily operations. This role requires proficiency in firearms handling, conducting threat assessments, advance work, and coordinating with various stakeholders to mitigate security risks. The operator must be able to respond to emergencies with discretion and maintain a flexible schedule to meet operational needs.

What you'd actually do

  1. Plan, coordinate, and execute secure transportation and protective operations for executives and key employees.
  2. Conduct advance work, threat assessments, and route planning to mitigate security risks in both domestic and international environments.
  3. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, protective intelligence, law enforcement, and vetted vendors to maintain an agile, credible protective posture.
  4. Provide immediate response and crisis management during emergencies while preserving discretion and composure.
  5. Support residential and travel security assessments and contribute to SOP development and continuous improvement.
