What you'd actually do

  1. Lead research, market mapping, and top-of-funnel strategy across a portfolio of non-technical executive searches (e.g., Finance, Legal, Operations, People, Policy, Comms, GTM).
  2. Build and deliver diverse, high-caliber talent pipelines, proactively identifying exceptional leaders through deep market research, outbound outreach, and ongoing relationship development.
  3. Partner with Executive Recruiters and hiring leaders to refine role requirements, ideal candidate profiles, and search strategies.
  4. Conduct thoughtful first-touch candidate engagement, building trust, assessing interest, and positioning OpenAI’s mission and opportunities with clarity.
  5. Act as a strategic advisor on talent markets, competitive landscapes, compensation trends, and organizational structures.

Skills

Required

  • 5–10+ years of sourcing or research experience, ideally in executive search or high-growth tech.
  • Proven ability to run research-heavy, zero→one searches and produce strong, targeted pipelines for senior-level roles.
  • Deep expertise in search strategy, including talent mapping, competitive research, and proactive outreach.
  • Exceptional written communication—able to craft compelling outreach, talent insights, and search briefs.
  • Ability to quickly understand and articulate complex leadership roles across Finance, Legal, People, Operations, GTM, and Policy.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with an ability to establish credibility and trust at the executive level.
  • High judgment and discretion, especially when navigating sensitive or confidential leadership searches.
  • A fast-moving, proactive operating style with strong prioritization skills.
  • Strong partnership instincts—collaborative, communicative, and comfortable in highly ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting non-technical (GTM, Operations, Marketing, Finance, etc.) leadership roles.
  • Background at an executive search firm or internal exec recruiting team.
  • Experience engaging candidates at VP, SVP, C-suite, or founder level.
  • Global research experience or exposure to international markets.
