Experienced or Senior Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer

This role focuses on aerospace systems safety engineering, involving safety analyses, risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety and airworthiness standards across the product lifecycle. It requires collaboration with design engineers and stakeholders to identify and mitigate hazards, and to develop safety tools and processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provides technical guidance and training relative to complex safety and airworthiness matters.
  2. Conducts system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantifies impact.
  3. Identifies safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices.
  4. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporates into designs, operations, and procedures.
  5. Performs or reviews tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of related work experience (Level 3) or 9+ years (Level 4) or 14+ years (Level 5)
  • Experience in aerospace systems engineering
  • Experience with system safety analysis
  • Experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, and collaborating on multi-discipline teams
  • Experience working with FAR Part 25.1309, and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754
  • Experience working with cross discipline engineering teams
  • Experience in airplane systems design and/or analysis (e.g. flight controls, hydraulics, avionics, fuels, etc.) and/or systems integration
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data from multiple sources, as well as interpreting data and presenting analysis and recommendations to management
