Seeking an Experienced or Senior Fatigue & Fracture Analysis Engineer to lead development, integration, and documentation of structural fatigue and fracture requirements, verify structural integrity using analytical methods and finite element models, and support in-service products by investigating failures. The role involves defining and documenting certification and test results for customers and regulatory agencies, and developing analytical processes/tools. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 3+ years of experience in fatigue and damage tolerance analysis, and the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead development, integration and documentation of structural fatigue and fracture requirements. Verify structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  2. Lead development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  3. Define and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  4. Support in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
  5. Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • 3+ years of working with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

Nice to have

  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience with structural analysis on military aerospace products
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1530 (Aircraft Structural Integrity Program) and its requirements
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as PATRAN/NASTRAN, StressCheck, and Lifeworks
  • Experience with Spectrum Generation
  • Experience with Full-Scale Fatigue Testing and/or other structural and material testing plans
  • Experience working on MRB (Materials Review Board) activities related to aircraft structures.
  • Experience with application of classical stress intensity solutions
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
