Export Focal Data Management Specialist (senior or Principal)

This role focuses on classifying aerospace technical data (drawings, BOMs, software, systems) under EAR and ITAR regulations, partnering with engineers to ensure compliant decisions. It involves supporting investigations, improving internal processes, and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform export classifications (ECCN/ITAR) for aerospace technical data including drawings, materials, source code and engineering systems
  2. Partner directly with engineers to evaluate data, challenge assumptions and guide compliant decisions
  3. Support corporate investigations and compliance risk assessments
  4. Contribute to and improve export decision guides internal processes
  5. Navigate ambiguity balancing regulatory compliance with business needs

Skills

Required

  • Associate’s degree and minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering, configuration management, or a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in product data management, configuration control, or a similar role with tools such as ENOVIA, PDM, REDARS, PSDS, OneSAP, etc.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and data management processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.

Nice to have

  • Associate’s degree and minimum 9 or more years of experience in process engineering, configuration management, or a related discipline within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong understanding of export regulations and compliance processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
