This role focuses on building relationships with policymakers, developing policy papers, and engaging in outreach to drive progress in AI policy and AI safety. It involves tracking legislative developments, preparing briefs, and collaborating with technical teams to translate research into policy proposals. The role requires experience in government, technology, legal, or policy-relevant environments, with a strong emphasis on relationships with policymakers in Congress and the Executive Branch.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage relationships with policymakers to generate opportunities for regular engagement and increase understanding of AI safety and policy
  2. Brief a diverse set of external policy and research actors that are looking to better understand AI safety and AI policy opportunities
  3. Track and monitor significant policy, legislative, legal, or regulatory developments, with a focus on federal policy developments
  4. Convene diverse stakeholders and speak at policy events such as research announcements, discussion panels, or workshops on AI safety topics
  5. Support senior colleagues in external engagements by preparing meeting briefs and taking action on follow-up requests

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of professional experience in government, technology, legal, and/or other policy-relevant environments
  • graduate degree preferred, legislative experience required
  • relevant experience and relationships with policymakers in the Executive Branch and/or Congress
  • track record of effective, information-rich advocacy with government regulatory authorities
  • drafting and executing complex policy campaigns
  • engaging with policymakers, civil society, and think tanks
  • translating complex technical topics into accessible and relevant information
  • deeply curious about frontier technological research
  • work closely with technical colleagues to translate new discoveries into policy outcomes
  • align with Anthropic’s safety mission and public benefit corporation orientation
