External Planning Lead

The External Planning Lead at Johnson & Johnson is responsible for strategic liaison between internal customers and external manufacturing sites for global site planning management of biologic products. This role involves defining, measuring, analyzing, and implementing planning controls and processes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, focusing on timely deliveries, target inventory levels, and continuity of supply. Key responsibilities include setting up business plans, managing supply agreements, following global planning routines, identifying supply risks, and tracking performance indicators.

What you'd actually do

  1. Set up and run business plan considering operations efficiency, inventory analysis, SLOB risk and customer service while maintaining accurate stock levels across the network of distribution centers and external sites.
  2. Meet supply agreement terms and communicate forecast and priorities to the external sites, including event planning while ensuring accurate set up to support NPIs and other initiatives.
  3. Follow global monthly planning routines to deliver plans to plants in OMP and support integrated business planning by allowing plants to interpret demand and inventory requirements and respond with the right capacity, products, and schedules.
  4. Proactive identification of issues that may impact supply, handle short- and long-term planning activities/processes and day-to-day planning, QA, and customer issues, as well as support events and escalations.
  5. Track and report key performance indicators and ensure action plans in place for business improvement purposes.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in Planning, Operations, Supply Chain, or related function
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables)
  • Ability to prioritize initiatives/issues
  • Effectively communicate across organizational boundaries through leadership by influence & negotiation skills to build and cultivate internal and external relationships

Nice to have

  • Experience with one or more of the following processes: master production schedule process, inventory management, scenario analysis, sales and operations planning, and/or Planning Systems (e.g., SAP, APO/OMP)
  • Supply Chain Certification (APICS) and/or Lean Certification
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge/ exposure to advanced digital capabilities (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
