Associate General Mechanic for F/A-18 aircraft at Boeing Defense, Space & Security in San Antonio, TX. Responsibilities include installation, removal, rigging, and component changes for flight controls, landing gear, and engine components. Requires reading engineering drawings and technical orders, using precision instruments, and maintaining certifications. Involves working in confined spaces and lifting loads. Must be familiar with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems. Will assist other teams (Avionics, Structures, Electrics). Requires 3+ years of experience in Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance and working with various aircraft systems and schematics. Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime. Additive pay for Airframe and Powerplant certifications. Requires ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform efforts associated with flight controls installation, removal and rigging. Landing gear and servicing of aircraft
  2. Perform essential component change outs for example servo pumps, filters and engine components
  3. Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair
  4. Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
  5. Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of experience Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance
  • 3+ years of experience working various aircraft exterior and interior systems such as hydraulic, flight control, monuments, landing gears, fuel systems, and engines
  • 3+ years of experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime

Nice to have

  • Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (F/A-18 or Depot Leve/Modifications)
  • Experience performing aircraft engine runs, and engine borescope inspections
  • Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment
  • $1.00/hourly for Airframe Certification
  • $1.00/hourly for Powerplant Certification
