Boeing is seeking an FAA STC and Certification Capability Engineering Leader (K-Level) to support their Commercial Modifications Team. The role involves managing employees, leading the development of FAA STC capability, integrating new certification processes, validating new processes, meeting with regulators, and keeping stakeholders informed. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, leadership experience, and experience with FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) and industry service documents.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the development of FAA STC capability and other new engineering and certification capabilities.
  2. Primary responsibility will be to lead the development of the FAA STC capability, addressing technical gaps, risks, and opportunities
  3. Integrate new certification processes and product offering into existing modification teams and processes
  4. Validate the new processes through multiple pathfinder projects, ensuring Broad Experienced Engineering philosophy is applied
  5. Meet with regulators to advance approval of new procedures

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”
  • 1+ years of experience working with the following FAA certified derivative aircraft element: Supplemental Type Certification (STC)
  • 1+ years of experience working with industry service documents for commercial airplanes such as Service Letters, Service Bulletins, or Maintenance Manuals
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time both domestically and Internationally

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team
  • Knowledge of Boeing's organizations, processes, program plans, policies and procedures, and products required to effectively perform functional responsibilities of the occupation
  • Experience working with regulators such as the FAA and/or a delegated ODA Office
  • Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment
  • Experience presenting to executive level leadership
