Joby Aviation is seeking a Staff Project Manager, Facilities Development to lead complex capital projects from concept through commissioning across their multi-site portfolio. This senior individual contributor role requires deep technical and financial expertise to deliver high-value projects, manage budgets, and influence cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include leading end-to-end project delivery, driving feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead end-to-end delivery of complex capital projects, typically $1M–$50M, with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  2. Drive feasibility, programming, design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities
  3. Apply expert judgment to resolve complex technical, financial, and schedule challenges with minimal direction
  4. Manage project budgets, forecasts, change control, and executive-level reporting
  5. Lead selection and management of architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants

Skills

Required

  • Experience managing complex facilities or construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading large, multi-disciplinary capital projects
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (MEP, structural, civil)
  • Advanced budgeting, forecasting, and cost control skills
  • Ability to influence without authority and communicate effectively with senior leaders
  • Proficiency with tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Procore, or Bluebeam

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with industrial, manufacturing, aviation, or airport facilities
  • Professional certifications (PMP, CCM, PE, LEED AP, or similar)
  • Familiarity with FAA processes and environmental reviews (CEQA/NEPA)
  • Experience supporting fast-growing or highly regulated environments
