Facilities Technician – Electrical

This role is for a Facilities Technician – Electrical responsible for the reliability, safety, and lifecycle performance of mission-critical electrical systems in hyperscale data centers. Responsibilities include defining electrical engineering standards, leading troubleshooting and incident investigations, providing engineering guidance for upgrades, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and maintain electrical engineering standards for high-availability infrastructure (switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators, grounding, distribution).
  2. Lead or support complex troubleshooting, power quality analysis, incident investigations, and RCA for high-impact or recurring events.
  3. Provide engineering guidance for upgrades, retrofits, and expansions, including design review, commissioning support, and operational acceptance criteria.
  4. Partner with site operations to improve maintainability, safe execution, and documentation quality (procedures, one-lines, settings, test plans).
  5. Coordinate with utilities and regulatory stakeholders as required; ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA/IEEE/ANSI and local requirements).

Skills

Required

  • Extensive experience in high-reliability electrical design/operations for data centers, utilities, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiarity with power analysis tools (e.g., SKM/ETAP/EasyPower)
  • Familiarity with safety expectations (arc flash, protective coordination)
  • Strong technical judgment
  • Ability to communicate risk and options clearly to mixed audiences
  • Evidence-based problem solving
  • Disciplined follow-through on corrective actions
  • Ability to influence across teams through standards, analysis, and operational alignment
