This role is responsible for developing and delivering strategic priorities for Bank of America’s Global Public Policy team, advancing the bank's position on key legislative, regulatory, and social responsibility issues by advocating to government officials. It involves maintaining strong relationships with public officials, trade associations, and coordinating with internal stakeholders. The Federal Government Relations Executive will act as a key advocate for the bank's interests before federal policymakers, focusing on banking policy and financial services issues, developing and executing lobbying strategies, engaging with congressional offices and federal agencies, and shaping policy outcomes. The role requires strong policy acumen, exceptional relationship-building abilities, and the capacity to translate complex business issues into clear and compelling public-policy positions, with a preference for candidates experienced in the federal legislative and regulatory landscape.

What you'd actually do

  1. Builds and maintains relationships with policymakers and public officials
  2. Establishes and advocates on legislative and regulatory policies important to Bank of America
  3. Drives Bank of America responsible growth strategy and strategic initiatives
  4. Engages Bank of America senior leaders with legislatures (state and federal), executive offices (governors, mayors, U.S. administration) and other policymakers
  5. Monitors the legislative and regulatory environment and communicates developments to Bank of America stakeholders

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience working with Congressional and Executive Branch policymakers on legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must demonstrate teamwork and ability to build relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Strong and proactive executive presence, with ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior executives, external stakeholders, and government officials.
  • Candidate must be able to think strategically on ways to help address complex problems and advance challenging business objectives.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, with the ability to manage deliverables with limited supervision.

Nice to have
