Field Deployment Engineer

Applied Intuition Applied Intuition · Robotics · Sunnyvale, CA · SDS Software Engineering

This role focuses on the field deployment and customer success of AI-driven physical systems, particularly in heavy equipment industries like automotive, defense, and mining. The engineer will own end-to-end integration, partner with customer operations, drive safety readiness, act as a technical escalation point, and monitor deployment health. It requires experience supporting technology on heavy equipment and working in industrial environments, with a strong emphasis on customer-facing responsibilities and independent decision-making.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own end-to-end field deployment of Applied’s product lines at customer sites leading integrations of systems from initial setup through steady-state operations
  2. Partner with customer operations leadership and frontline teams (control room, field ops, maintenance, etc) to establish clear roles, decision paths, and day-to-day operating procedures
  3. Drive safe operational readiness by translating safety philosophy and “non-negotiable” critical controls into site procedures, training, and go/no-go criteria
  4. Act as the technical escalation point on-site: triage issues, collect logs/telemetry, reproduce problems, and prioritize fixes with the broader engineering team while keeping customers unblocked
  5. Monitor deployment health and performance (uptime, throughput, latency, intervention rates), then drive continuous improvement with the customer, internal engineering teams and applied leadership

Skills

Required

  • Experience deploying and supporting software systems in production or customer environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, electrical, and networking domains
  • Comfortable working in active construction or industrial environments
  • Ability to work independently, own outcomes, and make sound technical decisions in the field
  • Strong communication skills and comfort acting as the primary customer-facing engineer
  • Willingness to be based on-site in Louisiana for extended periods

Nice to have

  • Background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, or related technical fields
  • Prior work in autonomous vehicle development domains
  • Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, vehicle diagnostics, and logging tools
