This Field Engineer role at Vectara is a customer-facing technical position focused on helping users leverage Vectara's applied AI product. The role involves technical assistance throughout the customer journey, from evaluation to production and expansion, working closely with Sales, Professional Services, and Customer Success. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise, assisting with POCs, architecture design, presentations, building demos, and acting as a liaison between customers and internal teams. The role requires experience in Sales Engineering and software development within AI/ML, search, or data engineering spaces, with a strong understanding of cloud and on-premise architectures, and proficiency in REST services and programming languages like Python or Java. The role supports the go-to-market motion of an AI product, specifically focusing on RAG, LLMs, and agents.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of Sales Engineering experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Experience selling to and servicing IT or Data organizations within large enterprises
  • Proficiency with REST services
  • Python

  • Understanding of architectural principles for cloud-based platforms
  • Understanding of architectural principles for on premise systems
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Compelling storyteller
  • Ability to communicate complex technology concepts crisply and simply
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or an equivalent field of study
