Rivian is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform hands-on vehicle repairs, diagnosis, installations, and inspections for Rivian vehicles. The role involves identifying and explaining the Rivian product line, utilizing technical resources for repairs, managing parts operations, and documenting work. Candidates should have general requirements like a High School Diploma, proficiency with tools, a valid driver's license, and computer skills. Experience in automotive repair, especially with electric vehicles, is highly preferred. Technical skills required include understanding low voltage and electrical systems, high voltage systems safety, chassis/brakes/suspension service, and thermal systems service.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform or assist with assigned vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections, whether at a service center or in the field directly at customer homes, businesses, or other convenient locations.
  2. Identify and explain the Rivian product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories.
  3. Utilize available technical resources to follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality or safety.
  4. Conduct road tests to ensure the quality of repairs.
  5. Manage necessary parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma, GED, or other recognized high school equivalency credential
  • Proficient in using hand tools and power tools
  • At least 21 years old
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, walking, and frequent use of hands for grasping tools and data entry
  • Ability to read and speak fluent English
  • Ability to see, read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics
  • Foundational understanding of basic electricity theory
  • Ability to safely use a DVOM for various circuit measurements
  • Reading and leveraging electrical schematics
  • Understanding the risks involved with high voltage systems and the ability to safely power them down and work on them using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Proficient in fundamental chassis service
  • Ability to mount and balance tires
  • Perform vehicle alignments
  • Replace brake system components
  • Service vehicle thermal systems
  • Safely handle refrigerant with a 609 certification

  • Diagnose mechanical suspension components
  • Repair advanced vehicle dynamic issues related to traction control, ABS, and power steering
  • Resolve complex drivability concerns such as Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the entire A/C system and its components
