This role is for a Field Services Veterinarian at Merck Animal Health in Queensland, Australia. The primary responsibility is to execute the Field Services Veterinarian strategy to achieve business outcomes, drive sales, and grow market share, predominantly into veterinary practices. The role involves providing first-class technical support to customers, stakeholders, KOLs, and influencers, and supporting the technical needs of sales regions. Key activities include communicating technical information, developing training programs, supporting the marketing team with technical tools, and liaising with the sales team to implement territory plans. The role requires a Veterinary Degree and Registration, prior experience in clinical practice, and excellent communication skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Successfully execute the Field Veterinary Services strategy and action plans to achieve business goals.
  2. Liaise with the sales team to develop and implement territory plans for technical field coverage, including customer visits, provision of best practice technical trainings and presentations, and measurement and achievement of defined key team field metrics.
  3. Utilise the sales team within territory to influence customers and clients to drive sales and market share growth.
  4. Serve as the territory’s technical expert, evaluating regional and individual technical training needs of the sales representatives and coaching sales representatives in technical selling skills.
  5. Prepare and deliver technical trainings on Animal Health products to our veterinary and retail customers and to university and TAFE students.

Skills

Required

  • Veterinary Degree and Registration with the Veterinary Surgeon’s Board
  • Prior experience in clinical companion animal veterinary general or specialty practice
  • Experience with companion animal vaccines and parasiticides
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the confidence to deliver training/presentations
  • Highly developed skills in establishing, influencing and maintaining business relationships
  • Compliance- focused mindset, with strong organisational skills
  • Highly competent in numerical analysis, technical and verbal data, with a sound and logical approach to problem solving
