Field Test Engineer for Maritime Autonomous Undersea Vehicles (AUVs) at a defense technology company. What you'd actually do

  1. Prepare for field deployments by identifying, sourcing and kitting AUV (Autonomous Undersea Vehicle) test and support equipment
  2. Conduct daily AUV inspections and system checks before and after operations
  3. Coordinate AUV launch and recovery evolutions, execute day-to-day test operations, and write daily operations and test reports
  4. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrades of AUVs in the field, operating the maintenance management system
  5. Support development, review and trials of Standard Operating Procedures and user documentation for all aspects of AUV operations

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years experience in integration, test, verification, and demonstration
  • Technical system mastery and support in austere environments
  • Problem-solving in hardware, software, and networking interfaces
  • Independent research and learning
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% offshore
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics, electrical diagrams, etc.)
  • Performing functional checkouts and tests, and diagnosing/escalating issues
