This role is a Finance Manager for GitHub, focusing on business health analytics and cost efficiency within Microsoft's AI strategy. The responsibilities include financial reporting, forecasting capacity spend for core platform and security products, and partnering with various teams to drive profitability and manage financial health. While the role is within Microsoft's AI strategy and supports AI products, the core function is finance and business analytics, not direct AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Publish executive-grade monthly and quarterly financial and operational summary including insights to highlight risks and opportunities impacting bottom lines in a timely manner. Drive reviews with executive leadership, clearly communicating results and providing recommendations.
  2. Lead day-to-day partnership engineering to drive best-in-class profitability by understanding the margin implications for new services along with driving low unit cost down for the portfolio.
  3. Drive forecasting and analytics of capacity spend for Core Platform and Security products.
  4. Manage financial health through defined objectives and key results (OKRs) and P&L from our internal tools. Flag risks and opportunities thereof.
  5. Articulate findings into high quality communications and facilitate executive decision making across engineering, marketing, and finance executive leaders.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 3+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 5+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively and influence stakeholders without direct authority, including exercising sound judgment to challenge when appropriate.
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with evolving technology and business model trends.
  • Deep understanding of the technology industry, especially commercial public and private cloud services, including related business models and economics.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple way. Executive level oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project results through both individual and virtual-team efforts.
  • Demonstrated analytical aptitude, financial modeling expertise, and the ability to think strategically.
