The Vehicle Freight Lead Analyst position works within the MP&L Controller’s Office and partners closely with the NAVL (NA Vehicle Logistics) operating team. The primary deliverables are to understand the origin of freight costs within the logistics network, develop data modeling and analysis to identify efficiencies to drive optimal cost levels within the network, and ensure the right level of premium freight cost is utilized to deliver finished vehicles from plant to customers.
What you'll do...
- Analyze large amounts of data (using data modeling tools) from various sources to identify freight payment trends to support tracking, forecasting, and reporting of freight expense
- Work in conjunction with NAVL to understand logistics network operation, carrier contract economics, and payment authorization systems
- Participate in continuous improvement roadmap discussions with NAVL to identify and implement network savings to meet annual efficiency and premium freight objectives
- Assist with development of Budget and Business Plan financials and provide analysis to support Year-over-Year efficiency and premium freight targets
- Prepare vehicle freight accrual, identify cost drivers, and allocate cost to vehicle lines by market in IMPRS
- Prepare materials and lead review of liabilities with Global Controller, PWC and NA Accounting
- Lead vehicle freight cost submissions for Forward Model cycle plan studies including PD SoMP reviews
- Prepare and ensure correct segment reporting
- Special projects and assignments throughout the year
- Maintain Alteryx workflows, and other analytical tools
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to develop strong, positive working relationships with the MP&L operating team and other organizations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work with and organize large amounts of data
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments
- Ability to reassess and adapt schedule to changing priorities
- Possess a process improvement mindset; implement new methods and ideas
- Proficiency with MS Excel and opportunity to learn new data modeling software (e.g., QlikView, Tableau)
- Knowledge of Power Aps/Power BI is a plus
Even better, if you have...
- Proficiency in data modeling and visualization software such as Alteryx, QlikView, or Tableau.
- Knowledge of Power Apps and Power BI.
- Experience understanding logistics network operations or carrier contract economics.
- Familiarity with Ford-specific systems like IMPRS or the PD SoMP review process.
- Experience preparing materials for and leading reviews with external auditors (e.g., PWC) or Global Controllers.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500., This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
