Finops Program Manager

Plaid is seeking a FinOps Program Manager to oversee financial accountability, visibility, and optimization for engineering-related spend, including cloud infrastructure, AI/ML and data workloads, and SaaS tools. The role operates at the intersection of Engineering, Product, and Finance, enabling teams to understand and optimize their spend while maintaining engineering velocity. Responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing spend, building forecasts, leading optimization initiatives, creating dashboards, implementing FinOps practices, and driving alignment. The ideal candidate has 6-10+ years of experience in cloud-native or SaaS environments, strong cost analysis and forecasting skills, and experience partnering with engineering teams on cloud, data, and AI/ML workloads. Familiarity with FinOps principles and SQL is required, with cloud cost management tools and BI tools being nice to have.

What you'd actually do

  1. Monitors and analyzes engineering spend across cloud, AI/ML, data platforms, and SaaS, identifying trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
  2. Builds and maintains forecasts for engineering spend, partnering with Finance and engineering leaders to understand drivers, assumptions, and risks.
  3. Partners with engineering, product, and TPMs to incorporate cost considerations into roadmaps, architectural decisions, and execution plans.
  4. Leads cost optimization initiatives, such as rightsizing, commitment strategies, and workload efficiency improvements, in collaboration with engineering owners.
  5. Creates and maintains dashboards and reporting that make spend understandable and actionable for both engineers and executives.
