This role is for a Fitter at Saronic Technologies, a company focused on autonomous maritime solutions. The Fitter will be responsible for reading blueprints, fabricating and assembling metal structures and pipe systems, welding, and installing machinery and components on ships. The role involves working with various tools and equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with other trades. Training is provided, and the position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

What you'd actually do

  1. Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and sketches to understand the specifications of a project
  2. Cutting (circular, reciprocating, miter, and chop saws), grinding, and assembly of metal structural parts using fitting aids and rigging equipment to align parts according to blueprints
  3. Tacking and welding of foundations and installing temporary fasteners to hold structural members in place
  4. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment using welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
  5. Install and align large ship machinery
