Ford Racing Engineer, Additive Manufacturing

Ford Ford · Auto · Allen Park, MI +1 · PD Operations and Quality

This role focuses on integrating Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) into Ford Racing's product development process. The engineer will work with design and release teams to identify opportunities for AM to speed up design iterations, avoid capital expenditure on production tools, and target specific components for AM technologies in future programs. Responsibilities include facilitating internal projects, representing Ford Racing in external projects, and communicating program requirements to partners. A strong background in Additive Manufacturing processes (design, build setup, execution, quality confirmation) and practical Design and Release experience for automotive components is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Facilitate Ford Racing Internally-Led Projects
  2. Near term, work with Design and Release (D&R) engineers and development engineers to identify areas where Additive Manufacturing can help our in-flight programs by speeding up evaluation of design iterations or avoidance of capital spend for production tools.
  3. Near term, work with D&R engineers and Architecture team to target specific systems, sub-systems, or components for Additive technologies in the up-front stage of future programs.
  4. Represent Ford Racing In Externally (Non Ford Racing) Led Projects
  5. Coordinate efforts with appropriate program and functional teams as required.
