This role is for a Forward Deployed Engineer at AssemblyAI, a Voice AI company. The primary responsibility is to onboard and support customers, helping them integrate AssemblyAI's voice AI models into their products and drive API usage. The role involves working directly with customers, understanding their use cases, and acting as a liaison between customers and internal teams (Sales, Support, Engineering, Research, Product) to gather feedback and influence the product roadmap. It requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-centric approach, with a focus on ensuring customer success and driving growth.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs are met throughout their journey with AssemblyAI.
  2. Evaluate customer use cases and proactively identify opportunities to integrate voice AI into their product roadmaps.
  3. Manage a portfolio of technical customers, primarily communicating asynchronously and ensuring timely, high-quality support.
  4. Lead commercial and project meetings, focused on demonstrating the value of our voice AI capabilities.
  5. Drive growth in customer usage of the API across varying product offerings and end customer use cases.

Skills

Required

  • 4+ years of experience as a technical account manager, account manager, solutions architect, sales engineer, or technical consultant
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities for voice AI integration and create detailed execution plans
  • Willingness to wear many hats (software engineer, product manager, account manager, and support)
  • Passionate about unblocking issues for customers
  • Excited about problem-solving
  • Operate with high energy
  • Adept at frequent context switching
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with expansive ownership
