Forward Deployed Engineer (emea)

This role is for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) who will be embedded with strategic customers to deliver net-new features, build standalone applications, and solve complex technical problems at the intersection of the company's platform and the customer's environment. The FDE will own end-to-end delivery, ship production software, work side-by-side with customer teams, bridge product gaps with custom solutions, and help define the FDE function. The role requires strong software engineering experience, full-stack development skills, and experience in customer-facing technical roles, with a preference for experience in autonomy, robotics, simulation, or automotive software.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own end-to-end delivery: from initial problem framing and technical scoping through architecture, implementation, and production rollout inside customer environments.
  2. Ship production software: build net-new features, standalone applications, and integrations that solve real customer problems (examples: scenario tooling, data pipeline applications, evaluation frameworks, custom simulation workflows).
  3. Embedded with customers: work side-by-side with customer engineering and domain teams at their sites; understand their technical constraints, debug complex issues, and ensure successful outcomes.
  4. Bridge the product gap: identify where Applied's platform falls short of customer needs, build custom solutions that fill those gaps, and feed concrete requirements back to product and engineering.
  5. Set the bar: as a founding member, codify deployment patterns, build internal playbooks, and help shape how the FDE function operates across EMEA.
